We offer several grades of vanilla beans.
Our Gourmet A-Grade Vanilla Beans are our premium variety. They are our finest beans, being longer (often above 18cm in length) and plumper than usual vanilla bean standards. They will infuse the flavour into milk and other liquids the quickest. They are available in our vanilla glass vials here or in selected fine food stores. They are the best choice to experience the full complexity and depth of flavour true, exquisite vanilla can bring to your palette.
Our Chefs/ High B-Grade Vanilla Beans contain the same beautiful flavour and are still plump and delectable, they just didn’t quite make the cut for our high standards to be classed as our premium beans. Generally, they’re a little less astonishing to the eye and touch than our premium beans. These are higher in quality than the usual B-grade beans you’ll find elsewhere. They are the best choice for the usual vanilla bean usage at a more affordable price.
Our Low B-Grade Vanilla Beans are more variable in quality. Some are still soft, while others have a lower moisture content making them best used in making homemade vanilla products, though they’re not entirely brittle like C-grade vanilla. They can still be used for the usual cooking purposes, though we recommend a longer cooking time to allow them to infuse more fully. They are suitable for making vanilla extract or powder (with further drying) at home, or for processing for cosmetic purposes.
Our 100g packs of B-Grade beans contain about 45 beans.
Please note that due to their decreased moisture content, 1 kg of lower grade vanilla contains more beans than our higher grades. For example, 1 kg of A-grade may contain 345 beans while B-grade may have 470 beans.
Species: Vanilla Planifolia
